How does a hotel app generate revenue?

Sub- Title:
In this post we are going to discuss how a hotel mobile app can generate revenue before guests’ are even at your property. To learn how a hotel mobile app can drive revenue through your in house amenities come back next week!

Book a room- Hotel News Resource found that an increased number of last minute bookings are coming through mobile channels. The convenience of an app can often be the deciding factor for guests’ deciding where to spend their vacation. If they like the features of your app they will often stay in your app to book their trip instead of going to their computer or picking up their landline.

The Share feature- most hotel apps come with a share feature on every screen. This allows users to send that information to friends and family via email, text message, or social media. According to Bloomberg Weekly from February 17th 2012, “The conceit is that travelers are more comfortable choosing a Caribbean resort if someone they know has tried it first”. What’s the takeaway? Allowing your guest to share all parts of your app will provide you with new downloads and eventually revenue.

Push Notifications- Push notifications are a great tool for generating revenue. When guests download your app they will be automatically prompted, “Would you like to receive push notifications from xyz hotel?” They choose if you will be able to contact them via their mobile phone.

Push notifications are still new enough that not everyone is using them, but established enough that we know they work. A push is unique because it’s short and sweet. Unlike traditional marketing, once your app is built there are no further costs. Push notifications are received exclusively by guest’ who have opted in for your offers so you will never come across as spam.

(An analytics dashboard will allow you to determine how successful each of these revenue-generating strategies has been.)
